On 11 February 2026, Nigerian Foreign Minister Yusuf Tuggar published a signed article titled Nigeria and China at 55: A Partnership Poised for a New Era of Shared Progress in China Daily, extending congratulations on the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Nigeria and China.

The article noted that over the past 55 years, Nigeria and China have always upheld mutual respect and mutual benefit, steadily advancing bilateral relations and deepening practical cooperation. In September 2024, the bilateral relationship was further elevated to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, demonstrating the determination by both sides to jointly build a high-level community with a shared future.
Nigeria-China relations not only reflect the aspirations of both nations, but also align with the growing influence of the Global South. Nigeria sees significant opportunities to deepen cooperation with China to achieve sustainable development and shared prosperity. It will contribute meaningfully to global stability and prosperity.
