Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of the Chinese Embassy in Botswana pays a courtesy call on Commander of the Botswana Defence Force

On January 14, 2026, Ms. Tao Lili, Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of the Chinese Embassy in Botswana, paid a courtesy call on General Mpho Mophuting, Commander of the Botswana Defence Force.

Ms. Tao Lili briefed General Mophuting on the Fourth Plenary Session of 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China， Global Security Initiative and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi’s vist to Africa and said that China is willing to work with Botswana to advance modernization characterized by six features and implement ten partnership actions, so as to enhance military and security exchanges and cooperation.

General Mophuting appreciated China’s support for BDF and hoped to strengthen cooperation in areas such as national defense, peace and security.
